Safety Guidelines

When using essential oils, there are precautions you need to take. Some of these are listed below:

  1. Keep all essential oils out of the reach of children
  2. When using the oils on infants/children, make sure to dilute the essential oil with a carrier oil (coconut, olive, or almond)
  3. Keep all essential oils in a cool and dark place
  4. Always wash your hands before and after using the oils
  5. Never put any essential oils in your ears and eyes
  6. There are some oils that can cause severe skin sensitizing and are phototoxic (a few examples are grapefruit and lemon)--make sure to stay out of the sun or tanning beds at least 12 hours after applying those oils to the skin
  7. There are many oils considered safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Click here for an example of a great book considered to be an excellent reference
  8. Click here to be taken to a Young Living link that gives more information about safety guidelines while using essential oils.
